THE RAINDANCE FIELD GUIDE

Best photos for a Raindance AI video

Prepare one clear portrait per consenting adult and fix common file and face-reference problems.

Use one clear, front-facing adult portrait per input. For a Solo, select one portrait. For a Duet, select a separate portrait for each performer. Even lighting and a visible face give the generator more information than a filtered selfie, a far-away subject or a group shot. These choices reduce ambiguity; they do not guarantee perfect likeness.

Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF. Files must be smaller than 10 MB and within the 40-megapixel image limit. HEIC/HEIF converts locally to a compatible image before upload. If conversion fails, export a JPEG from your photo app and select it again.

Look at the face at an ordinary viewing size

You should be able to see the eyes, nose, mouth, jaw and hair without guessing what is hidden. Sunglasses, hair across the face, extreme side angles and a hand in front of the mouth remove information the generator would otherwise use. An original camera photo usually contains more useful detail than a screenshot downloaded from a messaging app several times.

Do not enlarge a tiny crop and expect recovered detail. Enlarging makes the same limited pixels larger. If a face was only a small part of a group picture, ask for a closer portrait. A photograph that looks attractive as a social thumbnail may be a poor identity reference when opened at full size.

Crop for one intended performer

If you have a group image, create one crop per consenting adult. Remove other faces and leave comfortable space around the head and shoulders. Keep enough body and clothing visible to guide appearance without shrinking the face to a few pixels.

For a Duet, label your two prepared files in a way you understand locally, then assign the left and right slots in the generator. The app does not infer the intended relationship between people from file names. Both source images should be reviewed in their actual preview slots before checkout.

When your phone's image does not open

First check that the file is a photograph in a supported format rather than a Live Photo video or another document with a similar name. Re-export the picture as JPEG or PNG using the device's normal photo editor. A .jpg name on a HEIC file does not change its encoding.

If the image is larger than the limit, export a smaller copy. Keep the face sharp; do not repeatedly compress it until details disappear. Try a different original when conversion or decoding repeatedly fails. The app checks files before submitting them; a file-selection error is not evidence that a generation has started or that allowance was spent.

Preview is different from upload and generation

Photo selection creates a local preview. Read the permission confirmation and generation state before proceeding. Signing in alone does not submit the photo to a paid generation. When a submitted task is pending, return to that task rather than clearing the draft and starting again.

The signed-in account is the recovery path for submitted tasks and purchased allowances. Local files are a separate concern: clearing site data, deleting the draft or switching devices can remove a locally selected photo that has not yet been submitted. Keep the original photos on your device so you can select them again if necessary.

If the video looks wrong despite a clear photo

Check three things before another attempt: the active Solo or Duet mode, the intended slot for each person, and the quality of the original images. If those are correct, the remaining difference may be generation variability. A successful clip can still change facial details, clothing, posture or mouth movements.

The tool has no identity-match score and does not certify a percentage likeness. Do not describe an example as a guarantee for your own face. Watch the full example and decide whether this kind of result suits your purpose.

Only upload authorized photos of consenting adults. If your task requires children, public-figure impersonations or pets, choose a service that explicitly permits and supports that use rather than trying to force those inputs through this adult-portrait workflow.
